Fired up from the bombshell New York Times editorial from an anonymous source claiming to be a senior member of the Trump administration and part of the “resistance,” President Donald Trump declared to a packed room at the White House that “nobody is going to come close” to defeating him in 2020.
“The failing New York Times has an anonymous editorial — can you believe it? — anonymous, meaning gutless, a gutless editorial,” said Trump. “We’re doing a great job. The poll numbers are through the roof, our poll numbers are great.”
“And guess what, nobody is gonna come close to beating me in 2020, because of what we’ve done,” the president declared.
“We’ve done more than anybody ever thought possible in, it’s not even two years,” Trump continued. “Nobody has ever done in less than a two-year period what we’ve done.”
Trump again addressed the “failing” New York Times and the author of the infamous op-ed.
“So when you tell me about some anonymous source, within the administration, probably who’s failing and probably here for all the wrong reasons? No. And The New York Times is failing. It I weren’t here, I believe The New York Times probably wouldn’t even exist,” he said.
The op-ed, “I Am Part of the Resistance Inside the Trump Administration,” claimedthat there is a covert resistance within the administration seeking to thwart the president’s agenda. The author railed against Trump’s alleged ignorance and immorality, a seeming justification for the alleged operation which essentially disenfranchises the American people who voted for Trump and his proposed policies.
Soon after the piece was published, White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders called for the “coward” author to resign.
