WATCH: Maxine Waters Slams Democratic Leadership For Criticizing Her After She Called For Harassment Of Trump Officials

Rep. Maxine Waters (D-CA) took a shot at the Democratic leadership in Washington on Sunday after they criticized her for calling for the harassment Trump administration officials, saying that they “will do anything” to protect their power.

Speaking on Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer’s decision to criticize her, Waters told MSNBC’s Joy Reid: “You know, I was surprised that Chuck Schumer, you know, reached into the other house to do that.”

Waters then took a shot at the Democratic leadership, suggesting that the only reason that they criticized her was that they wanted to protect their leadership positions.

“I’ve not quite seen that done before,” Waters continued. “But one of the things I recognize, being an elected official, is in the final analysis, you know, leadership will do anything that they think is necessary to protect their leadership.”

Waters drew widespread condemnation after she called for attacks on members of the Trump administration, yelling at an event: “…if you see anybody from that Cabinet in a restaurant, in a department store, at a gasoline station, you get out and you create a crowd and you push back on them, and you tell them they’re not welcome anymore, anywhere.”
