CNN political pundit and frequent Sarah Sanders punching bag April Ryan shared an article on her Twitter page on Sunday that floated the idea that President Trump could be running a child sex trafficking ring.
The article that Ryan tweeted, from The Root, was titled, “Is the Trump Administration Running a Child-Trafficking Ring or Nah? Follow Me Down the Rabbit Hole”
Ryan’s tweet, which Fox News noted was shared with more than 330,000 of her followers, caused such an uproar that a spokesperson for Melania Trump, Stephanie Grisham, responded to it.
Grisham wrote: “If you’re a journalist w many followers & a @CNNPolitics contributor…is it ok to retweet any headline you want, regardless of if it’s true? Remember: ‘The core purpose of a journalist is to research, document, write, & present the news in an honest, ethical, & unbiased way.'”

Others within the media were appalled by Ryan’s tweet.
In a tweet, Fox News’ Brian Flood wrote: “Can you imagine the outrage if a cable news correspondent with White House credentials tweeted this about Hillary or Obama?”
Britt McHenry also called out Ryan, writing, “Trump Derangement Syndrome has gone off the rails. How can a major network contributor tweet this out?”
OMG – this is amazing… talk about fake news – the @CNN icon @AprilDRyan twitting out this! Now – anyone who considers Ms Ryan anything but a political hack (and obvious one at that) would be insane https://t.co/B13KDscab8
