On Monday, the women at “The View” went after Fox News contributor Tomi Lahren for her recent comments concerning immigration on Fox News’ “Watters’ World,” which included Ms. Lahren lamenting immigrants not speaking English and lacking skills.
“You don’t just get to come into this country with low skills, low education, not understanding the language, and come into our country because someone says it makes them feel nice,” said Lahren, appearing on the Fox program.
All the ladies at the round table took a swipe at Lahren, but it was co-host Sunny Hostin who deployed a dug-up ancestry report that claims Lahren had immigrant ancestors who did not speak English.
“We all come from immigrants, including you, Tomi Lahren,” started-in cohost Whoopi Goldberg.
Next was loudmouth Joy Behar: “She talks about low skills. What exactly are her skills?”
“She’s certainly not a historian,” replied Hostin, looking eager to rip the 25-year-old.
“What’s interesting is, someone did do some research on Tomi Lahren’s family, and I have it in front of me,” she continued in a sarcastic, mocking voice. “Her second great grandmother had been here for ten years yet spoke no English. Oh my gosh. Her great grandfather’s 1985 baptism, recorded only in Norwegian because they didn’t speak any English. The 1930 census says Tomi’s three times great grandmother had been here for 41 years and still spoke German. She didn’t speak English either.”
Hostin added, “So she doesn’t even know her own history. She certainly doesn’t know this country’s history.”
Meghan McCain labeled Lahren’s remarks as “anti-immigration rhetoric” and “red meat to Trump’s base.”
“There’s a difference between being for people going through the proper channels to get here legally and not being open borders, and having compassion for those of us that want to come here,” said McCain. “My dad always talked about immigration, saying, these are God’s children; they’re trying to come here to seek a better life.”
