Dem Senator Calls For 'Common Sense' Restrictions On Non-Existent 'Gas-Assisted Receiver Firearms'

Senator Martin Heinrich, (D-NM), on Thursday, called for “common sense” gun restrictions including raising the minimum age requirement on purchasing “gas-assisted receiver firearms.”

Gas-operated autoloaders were invented in the 19th century and are a common feature of rifles, including the AR-15, but there is no such thing as ‘gas-assisted receivers.’ A receiver, sometimes called a firearm frame, holds internal components.

This would be a far better thing for Trump to cave on rather going along with the endless laundry list of Democrat scams he suggested he was fine with on Wednesday.

Wayne LaPierre could come out and say: “You’ll have to pry my gas-assisted receiver firearm from my cold dead hands!”

Then the GOP could all reluctantly go along with it and act like they were taking one for the team.

In all seriousness, I’m hoping Trump’s cucking on gun control yesterday was just him playing the room in the same vein as the DACA negotiations, i.e. he’s assuming nothing will be done on either issue so he will somehow come out looking as though he really tried but congress just couldn’t get together.

I hate the idea personally and fail to see how enraging his base every month is a good strategy, but I’m guessing he thinks this is some sort of 4D chess.
