Bernie Sanders: Trump should consider resignation over sexual misconduct allegations

Amid multiple calls for Sen. Al Franken’s (D-Minn.) resignation over sexual misconduct allegations, and ultimate resignation, former Democratic presidential candidate Sen. Bernie Sanders (Vt.) suggested that President Donald Trump consider resigning from the presidency over sexual misconduct allegations brought against him during the 2016 presidential campaign.

What did Bernie Sanders say?

The “CBS This Morning” hosts asked Sanders on Thursday to compare allegations of sexual misconduct against Alabama Senate candidate Roy Moore as well as Franken, but Sanders said that he wanted to elevate the conversation to another level — by invoking allegations against Trump.

“We have a president of the United States who acknowledged on a tape widely seen all over the country that he’s assaulted women, so I would hope maybe the president of the United States might pay attention of what’s going on and also think about resigning,” Sanders said, referring to the 2005 “Access Hollywood” tape.

The senator went on to stress the importance of addressing sexual misconduct in today’s society: “What I worry about right now, as we speak, in restaurants and in offices all over this country where you have bosses who are not famous, there is harassment of women and women are being intimidated. We need a cultural revolution in this country.”

Why did Sanders say this?

We have gone from accusations of racism, sexism, ‘literally Hitler’, to fraud, taxes, collusion, and the list goes on. It should now come as no surprise that the Democrats are bringing up previous allegations.

The Democrats will stop at nothing to impeach Trump or get him to resign. Now they are using the ‘moral high ground’ in order to attempt to stir up the drama in order for Trump to step down. They are trying to shame the president into resigning. The Democrats are trying to use this, Franken, Conyers, and others to claim moral high ground, and in 2018 and 2020 use this against the Republicans. Their essential play here is to say, ‘Look we cleaned house, the Republicans have not, women vote for us.’

Trump will not step down and has denied the truth of his previous allegations.
