For four decades now, the words “pregnant woman” has been in a United Nations treaty. You know, what with women being the one’s who get pregnant and all. I mean, it’s science and Biology. Well, now the government of the United Kingdom wants to have that amended, and I’m sure by now you can pretty much guess why. Warning triggersome language ahead.
The UK government says the term “pregnant woman” should not be used in a United Nations treaty because it “excludes” transgender people.
Last I checked if you were born with a penis, you cant get pregnant.
Feminists reacted with complete outrage to what they said was the latest example of “making women unmentionable” in the name of transgender equality.
Pause. It seems more feminists are starting to realize that LGBT is erasing women. It’s about time.
The statement comes in Britain’s official submission on proposed amendments to the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights, to which the UK has been a signatory since 1976. The UN treaty says a “pregnant woman” must be protected, including not being subject to the death penalty.
Yet in the British Foreign and Commonwealth Office submission, Britain opposes the term “pregnant woman” because it may “exclude transgender people who have given birth”. The suggested term is “pregnant people”.
Sarah Ditum, a prominent feminist writer, said: “This isn’t inclusion. This is making women unmentionable. Having a female body and knowing what that means for reproduction doesn’t make you ‘exclusionary’. Forcing us to decorously scrub out any reference to our sex on pain of being called bigots is an insult.”
There you have it. Liberal government at work.
So this is where the politically correct movement is currently at. Oh, and did we mention you’re also a bigot for saying men shouldn’t steal opportunities from women by, say, crushing them in women’s sports? Because yeah (see Transgender freshman sprinter, born a male, wins two girls state championships and Controversy as Transgender Athlete Wins Women’s Weightlifting Competition). The world’s gone mad.
