Trevor Noah, host of Comedy Central’s The Daily Show, who just got back from a trip to his native South Africa to “escape the racial tension” in the U.S., said South Africa was “chaos.” But according to Noah, the United States has descended even further; he charged it is now a Nazi enclave, terming it the “Third Reich.”
Noah told his audience Monday night that he returned to the U.S. to “chill” from the unrest in South Africa, only to be shocked by the violence in Charlottesville, Virginia. He quacked: “Turns out, I left the Third World and landed in the Third Reich. … I know this happened a week ago, but I’m still processing everything.”
Noah referred to the white supremacist who rammed his car into left-wing protesters, killing one woman and injuring a score of others, then said President Trump defended the neo-Nazis “who that dude was marching with.” Noah termed Trump’s Trump Tower news conference as him being an “untrained Jedi failing hard. … After tragic national events even a mediocre leader says things to unite the country to calm the tensions, not inflame them — and especially not express sympathy for Nazi sympathizers.”
Noah charged Trump, whom he snapped has “41 months to go,” has “officially legitimized white supremacists, basically saying said we need to see things from the Nazis’ point of view, you know, march a mile in their boots.”
Noah noted a poll showing 67% of Republicans approved of the way Trump handled Charlottesville as showing the GOP “has a lot of camels … Anyone can fart … But it takes a special group of people, two-thirds of them to be like,” he sniffed, “nicely done, I like the way you handled that; that was nice.”
He added, “If so many of Trump supporters are willing to give Nazis the benefit of the doubt, then clearly anything goes. There is no line that they won’t cross, and clearly no cross that they won’t burn.”
