Everyone on the Right is a Nazi. Everyone on the Left is a saint. The virtue signaling is out of control
This, apparently, is the logic at work over at BuzzFeed, where editors decided it was somehow worthwhile to reach out to race-baiter par excellence Al Sharpton for comment on President Trump’s response to the alt-right violence and terror attack on Saturday. Here’s BuzzFeed:
“He was vague and not biting or specific,” Rev. Al Sharpton, who is preparing for a march of ministers in the name of social justice and civil rights this month in Washington, told BuzzFeed News. “He will not denounce Nazism or white supremacy by name. It’s telling and insulting. It will intensify our 1,000 Minister’s March and I’m glad we have Jewish faith leaders up front with us.”
The irony here is too marked to be ignored.
In 1991, Sharpton defended a professor at New York’s City College who claimed the Jews were behind the slave trade; he said, “If the Jews want to get it on, tell them to pin their yarmulkes back and come over to my house.” The next day, a Chasidic Jewish driver accidentally struck a stone pillar, which fell on a seven-year-old Guyanese child, killing him; the child’s seven-year-old cousin was also severely injured. Residents of Crown Heights launched into a race riot that included the murder of 29-year-old Australian Jew Yankel Rosenbaum. Sharpton spoke at the funeral for the child; there, he launched into a diatribe against “diamond merchants.” Here’s NPR reporting:
In a eulogy at the boy’s funeral, Sharpton criticized Jewish merchants in Crown Heights for selling diamonds from apartheid South Africa. He also said: “All we want to say is what Jesus said: If you offend one of these little ones, you got to pay for it. No compromise, no meetings, no coffee klatch, no skinnin’ and grinnin’.” Among the banners hanging to commemorate the boy, one read “Hitler did not do the job.”
It didn’t end there.
In 1995, Sharpton intervened in a landlord-tenant dispute in which the landlord was a black church, the tenant was a Jewish store owner, and the subtenant was a black-owned store called Record Shack. Sharpton led protests against the Jewish tenant, calling him a “white interloper.” Shortly afterward, a man present at Sharpton’s protests, Roland James Smith, Jr., walked into Freddie’s Fashion Mart, told all the non-black customers to leave, and burned the store, killing eight people including a black security guard.
And this is the guy BuzzFeed went to in order to condemn Trump for promoting anti-Semitism?
This once again demonstrates a simple rule: the Left will justify and excuse any behavior from their own side, even if that means making the astonishing claim that President Trump is the true anti-Semitic threat while Al Sharpton is merely an honest broker on behalf of Jews everywhere.
