Twitter will not be banning President Trump from its service in the foreseeable future, according to Twitter’s top leadership, not only because he’s the POTUS but also because he’s extremely good for business.

According to CBS News, calls by liberal activists to ban Trump from Twitter will go unfulfilled by the social networking website, despite Twitter’s recent crackdown on accounts that are guilty of “harassment” or “hateful conduct.”

President Trump’s opponents and groups such as the Reporters Committee for Freedom of the Press condemned the gif of Trump body-slamming a man with the CNN logo for a head as a threat against journalists.

He was also criticized for harassing MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” host Mika Brzezinski by tweeting that she was bleeding badly from a face-lift when he saw her during New Year’s Eve.

However, Twitter leadership said that Trump has entered into a gray area when it comes to violating his terms of service, saying that his tweets may be uncouth but don’t qualify as harassment. Furthermore, as Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey told NBC in May, it’s “really important to hear directly from leadership” and to “have these conversations out in the open, rather than have them behind closed doors.”

Transparency aside, one theory why Trump is getting a pass is simply because the president has increased traffic to the Twitter website. According to CBS News, Trump’s tweets are consistently making headlines, and people are swarming to the social media site to see them. As of the April-June quarter, the user base grew 5 percent from last year to 328 million.

Trump’s account has gone untouched, despite Twitter cracking down 10 times more on abusive accounts than it did last year, according to CBS News. Many believe the crackdowns began due to the creation of Twitter’s “Trust and Safety Council,” which features many leftist and social justice advocacy groups.

Among the members are Feminist Frequency’s Anita Sarkeesian, a controversial feminist figure who seeks anti-female message in today’s culture. Also included was the Dangerous Speech Project, a group that claims physical violence, and inflammatory public speech are linked, as well as “Hollaback!,” a group that combats online harassment. Hollaback! was criticized for its exclusion of tackling harassmenttoward others by leftist and social justice approved groups.

In January, Dorsey announced that Twitter would become a much friendlier place, as the site was going to tackle abuse on Twitter in a new way.

Soon after, crackdowns began on the site against accounts that Twitter deemed dangerous, regardless of breaking the rules or not. This resulted in what users called “shadow bans,” and “throttling,” or Twitter limiting the reach of some of its users in order to prevent other users from seeing their tweets.

According to Trump supporters, their tweets have been throttled in favor of anti-Trump tweets, to the point of almost disappearing from the site entirely. One popular post by a man named Mike Keen on Medium detailed how his tweets, despite being popular, were pushed down in favor anti-Trump responses to Trump’s tweets.
