Simon Smith, a 53-year-old English man, was hit by an out-of-control bus while simply walking in Reading, England on Saturday and the whole situation was all caught on camera.

CCTV footage from the Saturday morning accident shows Smith being struck head-on. In the video, Smith is hit directly and flung nearly twenty feet across the sidewalk.

While most people would lie there and wait for medical assistance, Smith got up, dusted himself off, and walked into a nearby bar, The Purple Turle, according to The Guardian.

The BBC reported that Smith only suffered bruising as a result of the freak accident.

No arrests were made in the incident, and Reading Buses told The Telegraph that the driver of the lorry was “taken off the road” pending an investigation.

Reading Buses expressed their condolences and voiced their displeasure that the footage had been released and shared on the internet.

A spokesperson for Reading Buses, in a statement, said:

“We are obviously shocked by the incident as well as the very graphic footage that has been shared a number of times. Thankfully, the pedestrian does not have any major injuries and there were no major injuries to passengers on the bus. The incident is the subject of an ongoing internal investigation as well as an investigation by the police with whom we are working and sharing footage from our on-board CCTV, so it would be inappropriate for us to comment or speculate on this until it has run its course.

We can assure the public that all our drivers are incredibly professional and trained to the highest standard. Our buses receive regular checks by our award-winning engineering department.

We send our regrets to those affected, especially the pedestrian injured in the street and hope that he is recovering from his injuries.”

Smith’s wife told The Telegraph that her husband is “in a lot of pain.”

“He’s suffering,” she said. “He shouldn’t be here,” she added, and noted that her husband’s “recovery is the main thing.”
