The Penguins are champions for the second straight year after they defeated the Predators 2-0 in Game 6 of the Stanley Cup final on Sunday.
Patric Hornqvist scored the game-winning goal for Pittsburgh with 1:35 left in the third period off a rebound from behind the net.
On a night dominated by the goaltending, the Penguins’ Matt Murray proved just a little better than Nashville’s Pekka Rinne, who had been nearly invincible at home through out the Stanley Cup Playoffs.
The game was not without controversy as the Predators had a first-period goal waved off after the referees inadvertently blew a whistle just before Colton Sissons put a loose puck in the back of the net.
Carl Hagelin added an empty-netter for the Penguins with 13.6 seconds left to seal the victory.
