Who is ANTIFA? What is ANTIFA? Are they organized? Who funds Antifa? We will try and explain who they are, and why the media is refusing to cover them.
Warning – Rather Long Article…
In years past, you have most likely have read stories of the Palestinian’s “Intifada” against Israelis. Intifada is an Arabic word whose meaning is “rebellion” or “resistance”. This resistance often takes the form of violent action, such as the “knife intifada” of 2015 that consisted of stabbing attacks on citizens in Israel.
In America today, we are in the midst of a “resistance” as well, and it’s also often violent. Instead of an intifada, it’s an “Antifa-da”. Far-Left fascists ironically style themselves as anti-fascists, or “Antifa”. I call them fascists because they use similar tactics to their 20th century predecessors. The Antifas are a minority, but they want the majority to bow to their will. They attempt to convince Americans that anyone that doesn’t adhere to their ideology is wrong-headed and dangerous. They are willing to use methods like false news and violence to silence certain groups (in this case, conservatives).
In the past, the goal was extermination of people. Today, it’s the extermination of non-progressive expression of thought. We’ve seen numerous actions by the Antifada against those that dare that go public with conservative opinions. Speakers like Milo Yiannopoulos, Charles Murray, and Ann Coulter are silenced by threats of violence or by the real thing, as seen at UC-Berkeley.
But you don’t have to be a conservative or libertarian celebrity to become a victim of the Antifada. It doesn’t take much to trigger a good verbal or physical pummeling by the Left. Just put on a “Make America Great Again” hat or a T-Shirt with the word “Trump” on it and walk through any large city or college campus; you’ll see what I mean.
I never thought that I would have to use the word “violence” so often in my writing; I’d much rather write about policy. Unfortunately, the Antifada has incorporated brutality as their main strategy to suppress conservatives in general and Republicans in particular. Recently, the Huffington Post published a manifesto of sorts by one of its columnists, Michelangelo Signorile, who encourages insidious forms of “non-violent” violence against those that disagree with him.
Mr. Signorile writes: “…no elected official – certainly those in the GOP defending and supporting Trump…should be able to sit down for a nice, quiet lunch or dinner in a Washington, DC eatery or even in their own homes. They should be hounded by protestors everywhere…”
He doesn’t stop there: “…officials and White House staffers must be challenged going to and from their cars…Paul Ryan, the House Speaker, should not be able to attend any function, eat in public, or enjoy dinner at home…”
The above Antifada tactics are not violent; that is, until you become a victim of them. It’s bad enough to have protestors scream at you and your family while you’re at dinner, or plant signs calling you a traitor on your front lawn. Imagine yourself being physically attacked at a North Dakota town hall, or being run off the road in Tennessee…because of your vote on healthcare. All of this by people whose philosophy is not in line with most of the people in their states.
Mr. Signorile offers a short disclaimer in his article abhorring violence, but he doesn’t refer to Berkeley or the many attacks on those trying to exercise their right to free speech. He specifically cites violence caused by…Trump thugs?!
If this writer was a lone voice in the wilderness, you might not take his manifesto seriously. Unfortunately, he is just one of many in the Antifada that believe incivility and violence are appropriate, even required, responses to losing an election. He encourages progressive activists to disrupt and attack Republicans, even in areas where the grand majority of people rejected liberal candidates and ideology.
Peter Hasson of The Daily Caller mentioned that Mr. Signorile’s column was shared more than 29,000 times. Shared for what purpose? To serve, as Signorile says, as a blueprint for the Antifada to “save America”, or to destroy it?
The Antifada doesn’t want to convince you, through the force of logic, that their line of thought is best for the country. They just want you to submit through the force of, well, force. No one, not even the Left, believes that their tactics will change hearts and minds. The Antifada, instead, wants you to be worn down, to be kept off-kilter, to be silent, and, finally, to give up. It’s working.
There are plenty of those on the Left who believe that even violent action is for the good of the country. You may have changed their world with your vote, but they know better than you; it’s time to put you back in the corral with the rest of the sheep. Will you go quietly?
How is ANTIFA Funded?
Well surprise surprise, George Soros backed groups are connected to these thugs, and other similar groups.
The Alliance for Global Justice is funded by a Soros-backed charity called the Tides Foundation, who gave $50,000 to help fund a radical-left group called “Antifa,” who used extreme violence to shut down the event at UC Berkeley featuring Milo Yiannopoulos.
From PJ Media
The Alliance for Global Justice, an organization funded by the Tides Foundation — a George Soros –backed charity – gave $50,000 to help fund a radical-left group that used violence to shut down an event at the University of California-Berkeley featuring Milo Yiannopoulos.
“Refuse Fascism” bragged on its website about how they used “righteous” violence against “fascist” Yiannopoulos and how they set a shining example for others to follow.
The full name of the group is “In the Name of Humanity, We Refuse to Accept a Fascist America” — a mouthful, to be sure.
The Daily Caller ferreted out the major backers of this bunch of wackos:
The left-wing group that helped organize the violent shut down of the Milo Yiannopoulos event at the University of California, Berkeley on Wednesday is backed by a progressive charity that is in turn funded by George Soros, the city of Tucson, a major labor union and several large companies.
The Alliance for Global Justice, based in Tucson, is listed as an organizer and fiscal sponsor for Refuse Fascism, a communist group that encouraged left-wingers to shut down the Yiannopoulos event.
The call to arms succeeded. Yiannopoulos’ talk was cancelled after demonstrators lit fires, vandalized businesses, and assaulted Donald Trump and Yiannopoulos supporters.
Refuse Fascism, which includes Princeton professor Cornel West as one of its founding “initiators,” defended the response, issuing a statementon its website that called the shut down “righteous.”
And on its Facebook page, the group asserted that the vandalism and arson were not “violence.” Instead, the group argued that Yiannopoulos and Trump perpetrate violence through the policies they support.
“Dismantling police fences is not violent. And to compare preventing someone like that from speaking to the real-world violence that they perpetuate everyday is ludicrous,” reads one post on the group’s Facebook page.
Why The ‘New American Antifa’ Was The Inevitable Result Of Liberal Outrage
College campuses are ground zero for the outrageous behavior of social justice warriors which has ranged from mass-chanting protests to rioting and violence. Over the last several years, Americans have quietly observed the increasingly disturbing and escalating antics of progressive university students.
The throngs of masked rioters who have violently shut down events by conservative and alt-right speakers over the last year — via threats or actions — ironically refer to themselves as “anti-fascists,” or Antifa for short. Antifa has been around in various forms across the globe for some time. This article speaks specifically about the masked thugs rioting and inciting violence on college campuses, e.g. Berkeley.
The formation of the new American Antifa isn’t sudden; it evolved, in part, from a single student screaming at a Yale professor in late 2015.
Just prior to Halloween 2015, the Intercultural Affairs Council at Yale University sent an email to students which offered advice regarding potentially offensive costumes. The Associate Master of Silliman College, Erika Christakis, publicly responded to the email. In her response, after a long and very politically correct preamble, she simply asked:
Is there no room anymore for a child or young person to be a little bit obnoxious … a little bit inappropriate or provocative or, yes, offensive? American universities were once a safe space not only for maturation but also for a certain regressive, or even transgressive, experience; increasingly, it seems, they have become places of censure and prohibition.
This simple message set into motion a shocking chain of events that would eventually lead to the resignation of Christakis, as well as her husband, Nicholas, who was the Master at Silliman College.
A pivotal moment in the eventual formation of groups like the new American Antifa occurred when a mob of students surrounded Nicholas Christakis in the middle of campus and in broad daylight. Several students castigated Christakis, but one in particular helped move the current Antifa culture forward. This student didn’t care what Christakis had to say, she simply wanted to scream in front of an audience:
“As your position as Master, it is your job to create a place of comfort and home for the students that live in Silliman. You have not done that. By sending out that email, that goes against your position as Master. Do you understand that?”
Christakis responded meekly: “No, I don’t agree with that.”
This caused the student to scream: “Then why the f*** did you did you accept the position?! Who the f*** hired you?!”
As Christakis attempted to calmly explain himself, the female student let loose, repeatedly interrupting him: “It is not about creating an intellectual space! It is not! You understand that?! It’s about creating a home here! … You should not sleep at night! You are disgusting.”
The student received approval from many around her, with other students poetry-snapping and shouting encouragement.
It must be seen to be believed:
Public outrage is similar to a drug, and human beings build a tolerance to the euphoric or calming effects of most drugs after repeated usage. Individuals like the screaming student at Yale surely feel a sense of euphoria when publicly displaying their “righteous” outrage.
Over time, however, simple anger isn’t enough. Singular displays of outrage evolve into mass displays of outrage. This was the case when Daily Wire Editor-in-Chief Ben Shapiro gave a speech at Pennsylvania State University.
The Daily Wire‘s Joshua Yasmeh previously reported:
As the president of Penn State Republicans began to introduce Shapiro, shouting began reverberating throughout the lecture hall. Throngs of social justice warriors decided to assemble outside raising their voices in protest. …
Amidst the intermittent eruptions outside, Shapiro proceeded to calmly explain the themes of his speech. A few words in, the mob shouted in unison: “Let us in!” The students inside appeared visibly rattled. With the increasingly forceful and disruptive demands of the mob outside, it was easy to forget you were on an American college campus. Again, the mob issued their demand: “Let us in!” Defiantly, Shapiro replied: “No!”
Footage from that event can be seen here.
When this behavior no longer scratches the itch for self-righteous euphoria, non-physically aggressive displays transform into physically aggressive ones. This was the case when Shapiro gave a speech at California State University, Los Angeles.
Once again, Joshua Yasmeh reported:
As Shapiro spoke to a relatively calm audience inside, protests erupted outside the event room. Protesters assaulted, harassed, intimidated, shouted down, and berated event-goers, according to Daily Wire reporters on the scene. One attendee claimed that he got “punched in the ear” by a protestor. Another man, who is disabled, was pushed and kicked multiple times.
Footage from that event can be seen here.
And as physically aggressive displays evolve, they naturally become even more truculent. This hostility was seen at Middlebury College in Vermont when author Charles Murray was set to give a speech. After multiple disruptions, the speech was moved to a private location where Professor Allison Stanger live-streamed a Q&A with Murray.
As Murray and Stanger attempted to leave, protesters surrounded them and pounded on their vehicle. The Daily Wire quoted Bill Burger, vice president for communications and marketing at Middlebury, who said:
“During this confrontation outside McCullough, one of the demonstrators pulled Prof. Stanger’s hair and twisted her neck. … She was attended to at Porter Hospital later and (on Friday) is wearing a neck brace.”
As demonstrations become more hostile and the law gets involved, activists are forced to don covers to mask their identity so as not to get arrested. Make no mistake, however, the new American Antifa — the masked and violent activists shutting down speeches by Ann Coulter and others — are merely an advanced evolution of the screaming student at Yale.
Antifa activists surely get a rush from behaving violently and fascistically. The only reason they wear masks is for their own legal protection. If nothing is done to push back against this thuggery, it will only continue to progress until someone is seriously injured or killed.
What were the Berkeley ‘riots’ all about?
Are all Trump supporters violent white supremacists as the mainstream media loves to paid? Clearly not. But you might not know that based on some of the reporting flying around lately.
The mainstream media are oversimplifying what happens when riots break out in areas like Berkeley, California, during a rally for free speech put on by Trump backers. In doing so, the reporting implies that those supporting the president were prepared for violence while those in opposition are simply opposing “fascism.”
Twenty-one people were arrested on that Sunday after fistfights broke out near Martin Luther King Jr. Civic Center Park, where a rally for free speech put on by a pro-Trump group Liberty Revival Alliance was scheduled. Rocks were thrown, and sticks and skateboards were used to beat people. Of course, the MSM reporting is slanted.
The Los Angeles Times report on the fighting, for example, takes pains to show how a member of a “citizen militia group” originating from Montana who came to the rally to protect Trump supporters might’ve been looking for a fight. “I don’t mind hitting” the counter-demonstrators, one man tells the Times. “In fact, I would kind of enjoy it.”
The paper also interviewed a woman on the Left fed up with the violence, a vendor selling organic produce, and a guy handing out “empathy kisses.” The message, clearly, is that those on the “Right” were looking for trouble and those on the Left responded.
What the Times, CNN and other outlets don’t tell you is this was not simply a clash of “Trump supporters and counter-protesters.”
Just who are the groups involved, and this ANTIFA you keep hearing about?
As some in the mainstream media tell it, on the one hand you have racist white nationalists in support of Trump. This is true. Alt-Right activists such as Nathan Damigo — who founded the white supremacist organization “Identity Europa” — can be seen delivering a vicious right-hook to a woman (who, in turn, was assaulting him). But by no means was every Trump backer at this rally for “free speech” a violent neo-Nazi.
On the other hand, as SFGate reported, several “liberal groups” were there to counter protest in opposition to Trump. But these were not just milquetoast liberals there to oppose a president they don’t like. Specifically, as the Los Angeles Times notes in a different piece, officials raised concerns about the militant “black bloc” of anti-fascist (Antifa for short) rioters. But don’t take the term “anti-fascist” on its face, as the mainstream media is wont to do. Understand who these people actually are.
“Antifa” is made up of self-described anarchists — radical left-wing thugs who employ violence and intimidation to advance their beliefs.
They’ve shown up previously at Berkeley to shut down a “free speech” event hosted by provocateur Milo Yiannopoulos, leaving damaged property, fires, and assault victims in their wake. They also violently disrupted a “March 4 Trump” event in March. But you aren’t hearing as much about Antifa violence as you are about the Alt-Right.
In fact, some outlets are offering outright praise for Antifa.
Ask Esquire magazine and Antifa rioters are noble, anti-racist counter demonstrators — a sort of Justice League vigilante group dedicated to shutting down fascist protests.
But this is a radical movement that traces its roots back to World War II, as Mother Jones recounts in “The long history of ‘Nazi punching.’” They employ so-called “righteous violence” against what they consider to be the forces of fascism. What “fascism” is nowadays seems to be a subjective definition belonging to whichever particular Antifa thugs show up en force.
Here in the contemporary U.S., waves of Antifa-driven riots are on the rise in in an effort to silence President Trump and his supporters by any means necessary. Antifa thugs show up at left-wing demonstrations to breed chaos, destruction, and bloodshed. They blend in with and are sometimes aided by the crowd, as National Review’s David French explained in the aftermath of Yiannopoulos’ Berkeley event in February:
What you’ll notice (and what you’ll experience, if you ever find yourself in the middle of violent left-wing protest) is that the rioters and the “peaceful” protesters have a symbiotic relationship. The rioters break people and destroy things, then melt back into a crowd that often quickly and purposefully closes behind them. They’re typically cheered wildly (to be sure, some yell at them to stop) and often treated as heroes by the rest of the mob — almost like they’re the SEAL Team Six of left-wing protest.
The “Battle of Berkeley,” as some are calling it, was a dangerous, violent, bloody mess. Instigators, Antifa and Alt-Right, should be roundly condemned.
But at the moment, the American people are only getting one side of the story from the mainstream media. The majority of the MSM’s intense focus is applied to white nationalist groups, while Antifa is being cast in a heroic role opposed to the Alt-Right’s violence.
The mainstream media wax poetic on the dangers of the nationalist populist Alt-Right. They ought to be wary of normalizing Antifa’s brand of radical Alt-Left violence.
Study: 9 In 10 Antifa Protesters Still Living In Mom’s Basement
A new study shows that over 90 percent of the anti-fascist protestors in Europe are still living in their mother’s basement.
Heat Street reports that the study found that 92 percent of the protesters at these anti-fascist rallies that are believed to have committed violence still live with their parents. Heat Streetalso notes the following findings from the study:
- 84% are male
- 72% are aged 18-29
- 90% are single
- 34% are unemployed
These “Antifa” protesters have been behind the violent protests that occurred on the day of President Donald Trump’s inauguration and the riots that occurred in U.C. Berkeley when Breitbart editor Milo Yiannopolous was scheduled to speak. In fact, it seems that the violence didn’t start until the “Antifa” thugs appeared, according to International Business Times.
Per IBT, the “Antifa” movement began during the rise of fascism in the 1930s and has been on the rise recently since they perceive Trump as a fascist. Anifa New York City organizers described themselves as as a combination of “radical left-wing and anarchist politics, revulsion at racists, sexists, homophobes, anti-Semites, and Islamophobes, with the international anti-fascist culture of taking the streets and physically confronting the brownshirts of white supremacy, whoever they may be.”
They also essentially excused violence by stating, “If Trump tries to register Muslims and engage in mass deportations, a Change.org petition is not going to stop it.”
The notion that Trump will attempt a Muslim registry is fake news, and Trump has backed awayfrom his previous support for mass deportations. But given that these “Antifa” protesters likely live in their mothers’ basements, it’s no surprise that they resort to violence over engaging in basic facts.
The sources used in this article are too numerous to list, but we tried to link to any claims we made, and backed them up with factual evidence, this will be an ongoing piece, and updated often.
