President Trump will give his first commencement speech as president this May at Liberty University, which advertises itself as the “largest Christian university in the world, CBN News reported Wednesday.
“I look forward to speaking to this amazing group of students on such a momentous occasion,” Trump told The Brody File. “Our children truly are the future and I look forward to celebrating the success of this graduating class as well as sharing lessons as they embark on their next chapter full of hope, faith, optimism, and a passion for life.”
Trump has spoken at Liberty University twice before, in 2012 and 2016. He drew criticism during the latest appearance, when he mistakenly cited“Second Corinthians” as “Two Corinthians.”
Trump is a close friend of Liberty University President Jerry Falwell Jr., who told CBN News that graduates will get to hear from a “champion of the average American citizen.”
According to the report, the last sitting U.S. president to speak at Liberty University’s commencement was George H.W. Bush in 1990.
