President Donald Trump said in a wide-ranging interview with “Fox and Friends” Tuesday that he thinks House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) is “incompetent,” a response to recent criticism Pelosi lobbed his way.
“Well I’ve been watching Nancy’s tape. And so I think she’s incompetent, actually,” Trump told the three hosts of “Fox and Friends” Tuesday.
“But she’s done a terrible job,” he added. “I don’t think she’s a good spokesman — she’s certainly wrong.”
Trump was responding to criticism Pelosi made over the weekend when she told ABC News “This Week” host George Stephanopoulos that Trump will have no real accomplishments to boast about when he addresses a joint session of Congress on Tuesday.
“From their inaugural address, where they talked about decay and carnage, they’ve done nothing except put Wall Street first, make America sick again, instill fear in our immigration population in our country and make sure Russia maintains its grip on our foreign policy,” Pelosi said.
During his interview, Trump also explained that rhetoric coming from Democrats, like the comments Pelosi made, is hurting the Democratic Party overall — even to the point of extinction.
“You know, if you look at what’s going on with the Democrats and the party, it’s getting smaller and smaller. You know, in a certain way I hate to see it, because I like a two-party system and we’re soon going to have a one-party system,” Trump said. “I actually think a two-party system is healthy and good.”
Trump’s interview with “Fox and Friends” hit on a number of different topics including repealing Obamacare, skipping the annual White House Correspondents Association dinner, Trump’s use of Twitter, Trump’s belief that former President Barack Obama is behind the nationwide protests against him, among other topics.
